A SCHEDULED steam train has been introduced in Russia for the first time in 43 years.
Steam is being used to haul a regular suburban train from Bologoe to Ostashkov in the Tver region every Saturday.
The train leaves Bologoe (around 220 miles from Moscow) at 9.25am and arrives at 1.10pm, stopping inbetween at Bologoe-Polotskoe, Kuzhenkino, Shlina, Batalino, Firovo, Gorovastitsa and Cherniy Dvor, a journey of around 70 miles each way which takes around 3½ hours.

The return journey departs at 3.07pm and arrives back at 6.21pm.
The tickets are priced at 300 roubles, which equates to £3.51.
The aim of the venture is to boost tourism and to see that preserved steam locomotives are used for the purpose they were originally built for, rather than simply displayed in museums. The train’s schedule matches the arrival and departure of the high-speed Sapsan train from Moscow and St Petersburg.
