Making a welcome return after an absence of two years was the Severn Valley Railway’s first major gala since Covid-19 struck, reports John Titlow. The September 16-19 autumn steam gala featured last-minute guest GWR 4-6-0 No. 4953 Pitchford Hall.
Big museum for the Big Country
Saturday, October 2 sees GWR 4-6-0 No. 7029 Clun Castle head a special marking 50 years to the day since No. 6000 King George V broke the British Rail steam ban. Robin Jones, who photographed that legendary train in 1971, reports.
