Special events are being held to celebrate the bi-centenary of the opening of the world’s first locomotive works, Stephenson’s works in in Newcastle upon Tyne.
This Giving Tuesday (November 29), the North Yorkshire Moors Railway (NYMR) is reflecting on the generous donations and support it has received throughout the year to keep it steaming on.
A century and a half after they perished during the construction of the Severn Valley Railway, 10 navvies have been honoured with a commemorative blue plaque.
