THE return of Flying Scotsman has helped boost visitor numbers at the National Railway Museum.

The York venue saw a 3.1% rise in visitors over the previous year to 750,000, despite the Boxing Day floods that hit the city.

Attendances at the NRM were helped by the award-winning 2015 theatrical successes In Fog and Falling Snow and The Railway Children, produced in collaboration with York Theatre Royal, as well as the recent return of No. 60103 following its long-running overhaul.
