Stanier 4-6-2 No. 6201 Princess Elizabeth suffered mixed fortunes during June 14-18 when having passed its main line tests, the 4-6-2 failed on its way to Derby.

Having completed both its morning light test and evening loaded test runs from Tyseley to Stratford-on-Avon on Thursday, June 16, following its protracted overhaul, it was then planned that the big red engine would run to Derby on Friday, June 17 to enable
No. 6201 to work PMR Tours’ ‘Yorkshire Coronation’ from Derby to York and Scarborough the next day, replacing Duchess of Sutherland which had been declared unavailable as it was still under repair since it had been stopped with a damaged piston.
