Donor engine back from the dead

REBUILT Bulleid Battle of Britain Pacific No. 34053 Sir Keith Park arrived at the Severn Valley Railway on May 11 for the completion of its ‘back from the dead’ overhaul.
Furness No. 20 hauls royal train

Britain’s oldest working standard gauge steam locomotive hauled a special one-coach royal train on the Severn Valley Railway when the Duke of Gloucester unveiled a plaque to mark the line’s 150th anniversary.
Furness Railway No. 20 was built in 1863 by Sharp Stewart & Co. of Manchester as one of a batch of eight 0-4-0 tender locomotives supplied between 1863 and 1866.
It is therefore a year younger than the Shrewsbury-Bewdley-Hartlebury Junction route, part of which is now the country’s second most popular heritage line.
Cheltenham to steam at Railfest
