Your Gallery: Goathland to Pickering

by

Paul Jameson: “Despite J27 No 65894 and Q6 No 63395 both having been owned by the North Eastern Locomotive Preservation Group for over 50 years this was the first time they had double headed a train.”

“The train is seen leaving Goathland. The blue star on the J27 smokebox door was first used in BR days when the engine headed the last train up the Silksworth colliery branch on 8th September 1967. A similar blue star may be found on the label on bottles of Newcastle Brown Ale.

“The following day, Saturday 29th September 2018, the order of the engines was reversed for the 11.37 Grosmont to Pickering seen here coasting down through the autumn colours of Newtondale.”
