THE Leighton Buzzard Railway has set a new record for the greatest number of narrow gauge locomotives on a train.

On Sunday, May 29, as part of its Simplex gala weekend, the 2ft gauge line had 17 Motor-Rail locomotives on a single train.

The gala was held to mark the centenary of the start of production of hundreds of internal combustion Simplex locomotives by the Motor Rail & Tram Car Company of Bedford for use on the Western Front.
