A Class 5MT (Black Five), built in 1936 by Armstrong Whitworth, Tyneside,- preserved in 1968.." The Sherwood Forester"- No - 45231-- based at Great Central Railways. Photo taken at Blaenau ffestiniog on Wednesday 26th of August, 2009, with a 5 coach special, dry day but misty ! Weighing in at 120 tons this was an unusual weight for the Conway Valley Branch line. As the station in Blaenau caters for the Conway line and the Ffestiniog Railway line, the passengers had a bonus of being transferred to the Ffestiniog Railway, and a trip down to Tan y Bwlch and back.. this gave time to slowly water the `Fusilier from the nearby water mains by the road side with a 4" hose...!!
