Joem returns to the NYMR
By: Robin Jones
NELPG’s popular 0-6-0T No. 69023 Joem has returned to its North Yorkshire Moors Railway base following spells visiting the Midland Railway-Butterley, and the Great Central North at Ruddington.
It arrived back on NYMR metals on December 29 and was then steamed for a light engine movement to Grosmont on January 2.
It is expected to be used in conjunction with a set of vintage coaches for February half term services, sharing the duties with the railway’s Class 101 DMU.
The Class 101 DMU is scheduled to receive some body repairs before too long and to facilitate these the NYMR is looking to hire in a Class 101 motor driving car so the remainder of the set can still be used whilst the under-repair car is out of action.
Any group that is interested in hiring a car to the NYMR should approach the railway at 12b Park Street, Pickering.
