Clive’s long association with the North Norfolk has seen the Poppy Line become one of the UK’s major heritage railways; and it was his enthusiasm and tenacity that drove the successful restoration of the unique 85-year-old Quad-Art set of four carriages which pioneered the articulated technology used on today’s Eurostar trains.
Clive said: “The UK’s economic problems mean that this is a challenging time for all preserved railways, but we had a good year in 2011, with a 5% uplift in traffic, and our terrific team of volunteers puts us in a great position to build on that success.”
Clive succeeds Steve Ashling, who masterminded the restoration of the Sheringham level crossing and main line connection.
Steve remains on the board of the railway and continues to be active as a volunteer signalman.
