Porter article stirs photographic memory
19 January 2012
The article by Geoff Courtney in issue 157 about the return of railway porters – or luggage assistance teams as they are now called – brought to mind a photograph I have in my collection.

I AGREE with the question posed by John Jolly: How safe are ‘preserved’ items of stock?
Last word on the last pannier?

MANY thanks indeed for running the story of the last standard gauge GWR locomotive to work for BR. We are nearly at the end of the story.
How safe are ‘preserved’ items of stock?

I VISITED Crewe Heritage Centre on October 29 and was delighted to see the LNWR 30-ton breakdown crane, which featured on your pages during the summer, now displayed in an ideal environment and, in spite of years of neglect, looking magnificent.
One good turn deserved another

27 October 2011.

29 September 2011.
In issue 152, Chris Magner asked whether 0-6-0PT No. 4646 was the last GWR locomotive to work for BR.
Big and little GN Atlantics
29 September 2011.
I do not suppose I am the only one to point out an error on page 72 of issue number 154.
What happened to NER coach?
1 September 2011.
Around 1991 I was travelling to Buchan. Beside the southbound dual carriageway on what I believe was the Aberdeen to Peterhead road, though it may have been another around Aberdeen, was a small farm.
